Our big Christmas event as always was the seasonal carol concert of the Beaminster Gallery Quire on Thursday 12th December. All dressed in period costume, they sang beautiful old carols that were sung by the motley collections of village folk rather than posh choirs! The music is largely taken from old village manuscripts, notably Odcombe, Purbeck, and Padstow in Cornwall; a tune called 'Burton Bradstock' and a work by local composer Samuel Wakely of Bridport. Even Arcangelo Corelli made an appearance!
