The Pod is open Tuesday -Friday 10-12 and 1 -3pm. On Saturday it is morning only, 10-12. Closed Mondays. The Pod has been open four and half years and since opening it has had more than 18,000 visitors. It is staffed by volunteers drawn from many of the different churches in Sherborne. They provide a listening ear, a welcome chat, and sometimes prayer, with those who pop in. It is home to the Community Fridge and an Emergency Food Bank. It provides a collection point for charity donations of bottle tops, spectacles, jewellery, knitting and yarn, clothing for refugees and of course the shoe box appeal. There is also a wide selection of Christian books to borrow with over 1000 volumes on the shelf. New volunteers are always welcome and people always work in pairs. The current appeal is “The Winter Roost Appeal”, which is asking for donations for the homeless in Yeovil. The Roost is a drop-in support centre based at Yeovil Community Church.
